The 7 Chakras

The Seven Chakras explained

The 7 chakras are basically the seven energy centers throughout the body. These energy centers are represented by seven different parts of the body, and they run all along the spinal column.

According to ancient Chinese medicine, a chakra is a wheel through which more than 200 meridians, or energy channels, cross through.

The connection of all those channels creates energy spirals throughout the body.  Of course there are thousands of chakras throughout the body, although there are only seven major ones.

Ancient philosophies state that health problems are caused by blocked energy inside our chakras.

In order to stay healthy, we’ve got to keep the energy flowing freely.  Each of the major chakras is represented by a colour, and there are many healing positions that will unblock the energy flow through them.

A study of ancient Chinese medicine will reveal which positions heal what kinds of problems.

Correcting the energy flow through your chakras is a complicated process, but it is one that can easily be done when you have a basic understanding of the major chakras and where they can be found throughout your body.

Start by imagining your spinal cord in a perfectly straight line from your buttocks to the top of your head.  All of the seven chakras are aligned along the spine, and each one focuses on a different type of energy.

Let’s start at the top of your head and work our way down the spine.

The first of the 7 chakras is the crown chakra.  This chakra represents your ability to connect to the world on a spiritual level.  Your crown chakra is all about inner and outer beauty.

Next from the top is the third eye chakra, which is located on the forehead between the eyes.  This chakra is also known as the brow chakra, and it focuses on the imagination and ability to think creatively.

You’ll find the throat chakra right where you would expect to be found: in the throat.  The throat chakra focuses on your ability to express yourself verbally and emotionally.

The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest just above the heart.  Of course the heart chakra focuses on love and your inner peace.  A disruption of the energy flow through your heart chakra can severely impair your ability to love.

The solar plexus chakra falls in the middle of the 7 chakras.  It’s located in the upper abdomen, and it focuses on self-esteem.  Your ability to be confident relies on free flowing energy through this chakra.

Second from the bottom of your body is the sacral chakra, which is located about two inches below your belly button.  This chakra is all about your ability to connect with other people.  It also holds your sense of well-being and sexuality.

The lowest of the seven chakras is the root chakra, which represents your ability to feel grounded in your life.  This chakra is located in the tailbone, and it holds all of your survival instincts.
